Mama's got a new toy...

Last night we picked up a new camera. Basically just a newer version of my previous camera, as it's 3 years old. and. well. I wanted a new one.

The old camera will be headed to a certain young lady I know who is interested in photography. I learned a lot with that camera. I hope she does too...

And, without further ado, a fun video shot with my new toy:

The weather is here...

... and it's here to stay. The last couple of weeks the temperatures have been way below freezing. Currently it's 7 degrees, but the wind chill is well below zero. But can you really feel a difference when it's that cold?

We're gearing up for our 5th annual Groundhog Day party. It's on a Saturday this year, which gives us plenty of time to let the chili stew and get extra tasty. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I am not sure I can wait a week and 2 days. Until then, I'll just have to stare into this picture that we took over Christmas. Mmmmmmm.

Dave's Beer Chili

Other than that, life has been busy for us. What we think is going to be a restful weekend usually turns into running around here and there, visiting with friends, and surviving the Indiana winter. I, for one, will be happy when Spring comes around. Here's to a dark, cloudy day on February 2nd.

It's August in Indiana

...Which means two things: It's hot, and it's State Fair Time.

Yesterday, Dave and I decided to brave the heat and experience our First Indiana State Fair in the 3+ years that we have lived here.

Besides the unbearable heat (even though at 94 degrees, yesterday was the coolest day of the week), we had a good time exploring the never ending supply of deep fried foods.

Indiana State Fair Midway

Does anyone else find it weird that this is served at the Indiana State Fair??

Hot Wisconsin Cheese

We shared what had to be the largest corn dog ever served, and a turkey leg that acted like super glue on Dave's fingers - the napkin stuck and wouldn't come off.

Friday night, we decided to try out a new restaurant not far from our house - best.hushpuppies.ever. So good, in fact, they won the Indiana State Fair Competition for best corn dish. mmmm.

Corn Fritter Heaven

We decided that we'd steer clear of the food from this booth:

Just looking at the photo makes my heart hurt.

It's a shame that's all the ice cream left in the house...

Smashed my thumb a few minutes ago. All swollen now.
This should make it better:

This is how we celebrate:

The weekend, part deux

My creation

We were really busy this weekend! I wrote about the new table yesterday, but totally forgot to post a photo of the food! How Dare I!?!?! (mmm. doesn't it look delish!)

Yesterday we met up with our volleyball team and some other friends for a few rounds of sand volleyball. We had fun, though I came home a little more pink that I had hoped. :P

After volleyball, we went to another friends house. She and I are going to start making frames and hopefully (eventually) sell some photos in them. That's a photo of our first frame ever. Not too shabby, eh?

Well, it's Groundhog Day... again...
-Bill Murray, Groundhog Day

And thanks to Punxsutawney Phil for not seeing his shadow: an early spring ahead!

Tonight we host our 4th annual Groundhog Day Extravaganza - Bet you wish you were here to have some of Dave's famous chili! I can't wait!

True Story.

Tonight was our 3rd volleyball game of the new season. (We lost, in case you were wondering. boo hoo) Since the game started at 7pm, we had just enough time beforehand to play a few rounds of tennis on the Wii, and head out the door. By the third game, both David and I were starving, so we decided to head over to B-Dubs for some wings and rings. Hehe :)

Being Tuesday, wings were 35 cents each, so we ordered 18, 6 each of three different sauces to share between the two of us. My favorite is the Parmesan Garlic, so I bartered with Dave to ensure I would get the last one. I take a bite, ooh so good, and pull it back to try (key word, try) to twist the bone out. As I did, one of my fingers slipped. (what! they really sauce those puppies up!) The wing went flying out of my hand. With a look of shock, I turn to David, whose eyes were locked on the flying wing. I watch as it flies in slow motion and lands on the table three chairs down from us. The occupants looked up, taken aback at the soft landing of an identifiable flying object next to their buffalo chips. As we made eye contact, one of the guys picked up the wing and asked "Does this belong to you?"

True Story.

Or is it??

What???

I'll probably be saying that all day today. My ears are ringing because last night, David (the most wonderful, kind, awesome husband in the world), went to the Josh Kelley concert with me! I think he actually had a good time, too. hehe... It was a great concert, he gets so into his music and has a lot of fun. We were right up on the stage. Alexa Ray Joel opened. Billy Joel's daughter. I was pretty impressed with her too... In this pic, they were covering The Weight, by The Band. It was awesome!

I also meant to take a picture of dinner last night, but I was so excited to eat it, there was no time to find the camera. :) David grilled (!!! First time this year !!!) up some teriyaki beef. I made aloha rice with pineapple, green and red peppers (mmmm). It was delish.

It's almost Friday...

Do you know what this is?

Do you think it's odd that most of our posts are about food? hehee.

David and I went to this little cafe this weekend. Had some of the most DELISH Gelato. (We tasted several kinds, but I opted for the cappuccino. YUM, David had the Creme Brulee, which was also YUM.) Authentic, all natural, imported from Italy ingredients. Our sources say it's just as tasty as the gelato in Italy. Guess you'll have to come to Indy to compare.

Oooh, and I love Peeps too!! hehee.

So Happy...

David thought I was strange for taking this picture last Sunday.

Buca Di Beppo

Buca was sooooooooooooooooo good. I can't even tell you how awesome the chicken tasted. It was baked with mozzarella melted on top with sun dried tomatoes (I think it also had some kind of pepper with it, it had a slight kick) in a (scrumdiddlyumptious) cream sauce. We ordered a side of fetticini alfredo. garlic bread with mozzarella. OOooh. So good. That's a pic--- I don't know why it's so small. oh well.

I don't know what it was called, it was the special of the night. mmmmm. Fantastic!

The movie was good. I liked it. But, I really like Harrison Ford. :)

We watched some Olympics. I was sad when Michelle Kwan withdrew. We Tivo'd some Curling, I am sure we'll watch that tonight.

Hope everyone's weekend was good...
