It's August in Indiana

...Which means two things: It's hot, and it's State Fair Time.

Yesterday, Dave and I decided to brave the heat and experience our First Indiana State Fair in the 3+ years that we have lived here.

Besides the unbearable heat (even though at 94 degrees, yesterday was the coolest day of the week), we had a good time exploring the never ending supply of deep fried foods.

Indiana State Fair Midway

Does anyone else find it weird that this is served at the Indiana State Fair??

Hot Wisconsin Cheese

We shared what had to be the largest corn dog ever served, and a turkey leg that acted like super glue on Dave's fingers - the napkin stuck and wouldn't come off.

Friday night, we decided to try out a new restaurant not far from our house - best.hushpuppies.ever. So good, in fact, they won the Indiana State Fair Competition for best corn dish. mmmm.

Corn Fritter Heaven

We decided that we'd steer clear of the food from this booth:

Deep Fried Indiana

Just looking at the photo makes my heart hurt.

The deep-fried snickers bars are well worth the try...and the sugar buzzzz last for days! Of course, here in the south, we'll deep-fry anything! :)
