Yet another month has whizzed past, all a blur. Mommy and Daddy have been busy trying to keep the house presentable, lest we have a last minute showing - Not an easy task with a busy toddler.
You've discovered the thrill of climbing on top of things. Thankfully you're still a little on the short side, so you can't quite reach the things you really want to climb up to quite yet, but I know that's not far off.
Earlier in the month, your Great Aunt Kelly (hehehe. that will never get old) came for another visit. She brought you lots of toys and even a suitcase, which will come in very handy here in a couple of weeks.
We made our first trip back to Kansas City since last Christmas. It's a long drive. A long time to stay strapped into one chair, not able to walk around or play, but you handled it like a champ! Sure, one of us had to be back there entertaining you with books or small toys, but you hardly fussed during the 16+ hours there and back. We'll be making the trip again in a couple of weeks - but this time it will be by plane. A whole new set of firsts for you. Should be interesting.
Despite the fact that you weren't feeling your best while we were in KC, you had a good time seeing all of your family and playing with all new people. Grandma Baker was so happy to see you. It had been 11 months since she saw you last (other than our weekly Skype date). You melted her heart when you laid your little head on her lap.
You helped Mommy celebrate her 29th birthday this month, too. We tried to give you a taste of what Christmas will be like by letting you open a gift or two, but you were too busy. You'll probably only be interested in the paper that's already been torn off the gifts.
Speaking of Christmas, we're going without a tree this year, and it breaks mommy's heart. There are just so many things up in the air right now, that we thought it would just be easier to leave it in the attic. Next year, though, we are going ALL OUT. I promise...
We did put up some garland and stockings. They're a bit long, which means you can reach them with ease. Being tree-less, I have to have something Christmasy around, so I've had to improvise a bit.
It's worth it for that little splash of holiday cheer.
It's amazing how fast 14 months go by. I am sure that I'll say the same thing when you turn 14 years, but we've got a while before that happens (Thank God). Happy 14 months, Buster. We love you!
