Update. Sort Of.

Just a quick note to let you all know that we're in the new house, and it's wonderful. I have many photos to share, as well as Eli's 18 month letter to publish. But, well, moving wears me out. I'm so tired that I am having problems keeping my eyes open as I type this.

So, I promise to have more tomorrow. Or maybe the next day. But it will be soon. Until then, enjoy this little video of Eli while we were out for a walk yesterday morning.

Two Weeks.

Two weeks from this moment we'll be homeless. Two weeks from this moment - If all goes as planned (we think?) - we should be doing the walk through of the new house. Of course, things don't always go as planned, so we have everything lined up in case we aren't able to close on the new house that day. But, oh, how I hope we do...

We went in again yesterday morning and walked around. They've got all the drywall up. It looks like it's ready to prime and paint. The ceilings were done. Still wet, but they looked good. The siding is up. Just waiting on the brick. It's possible that it could happen. As long as all of the cabinets, appliances, and fixtures were ordered in time.

Here's a little slide show for your viewing pleasure. Hopefully we'll see more changes later this week...

If I Never See Snow Again...

...It will be too soon.

We've had a lot of it lately. I know I shouldn't complain, because we're buried under inches of it - not feet like other parts of the country. But we've had two decent storms dump on us recently, and I am tired of it. We need spring. We need it now.

We need it, because we have finally(!) sold our house, and must be packed and gone by the 5th of April. And while our new house is (so they say) still on schedule, if we get any more snow, there's just no way we'll be done by then. And I'd love more than anything to be able to move straight into our new home.

But, I won't complain. I'll just start packing and hope for the best.

Here's a picture we took of the lot today. As you can see, there is a lot of snow. Dave chose to not walk the lot, since we were planning on going to dinner afterwards. Hopefully next week it will be a little less snow-packed. I will say that we do have window wells at both basement windows, so they have been able to do something over the past week.

Things are moving now...

Since I neglected to give an update from last week on this house, we'll have a double update here. Things are looking MUCH different today than they were just two weeks ago.

Here are the pictures we took on Saturday:

Now. Fast forward to today:

And a look down into what is now officially SOMETHING.

If you click through and look at some of the other photos, you'll be able to see a little bit more. But I want to share a little detail with you that I am currently in love with:

brick wall

Our basement walls will have a faux brick finish. How fun is that? We don't plan on finishing the basement right away, and even when we do, we will probably leave some of the original wall exposed to give it character. LOVE.

Hopefully the winter storm that is supposed to hit us tomorrow won't delay things too much, because I really love driving by to see that things are moving.

Progress, Pt. 2

Saturday, during one of the three showings we had scheduled, we did our weekly drive by the lot. Not much has changed since last week, but there was one subtle difference:

Still, it looks pretty much the same. But, I know for a fact that the next photo I post will be much different...

Progress.

Yesterday, we were out and about and decided to drive by the lot to see if anything had happened yet. If you don't remember, this is what it looked like shortly before Christmas:

THIS. This is what it looks like today:

Can you spot the difference??

Let me help you out.

Still Waiting.

Not long after Eli was born, Dave and I realized that the house we've made our home for the last 4 (almost 5) years is bursting at the seams. If you've been out to Indiana to visit us, you know it's not a big house. It is very cozy, though. I've grown to love this house in the short time we've lived in it. But, the older Eli gets, the more stuff he accumulates (not to mention the stuff that mommy and daddy have amassed). So, it's time to move on.

A few months ago, we started the process of building a house. We put our house on the market, and have been waiting for something to happen ever since.

A couple of weeks ago, things started happening. We went in and picked out all of the colors for the new house, which was a lot of fun. Now, we're waiting for them to break ground - which should happen very soon. Until then, we wait.

Most of our neighbors are already built, so at least we'll already have people surrounding us when we move in. Until that day, we will keep you updated with weekly pictures of the progress. Here is the photo we took yesterday.
