8 Months

Eli,

Today you turn 8 months old.

It was a very busy month for us all. First, your Great Aunt Kelly (hehehe) and your cousin Gracie came to visit you. You just fell in love with Gracie and her necklace. They brought you a bear rug that you absolutely adore - mommy needs to get a naked baby photo with it!

You've mastered crawling and have now tackled pulling up on things - though getting back down is still a battle. A few nights ago, we were skyping with Mama Jo and Papa Po and you tried to pull up on the coffee table to get a better look at them. You didn't quite make it. You slipped down and bonked your little head and oh, boy, did you cry. Mommy did too, it broke her heart to see you hurt. I know I need to get used to the bumps and bruises, but it will take some time.

We moved you out of your infant car seat, and you are now in a big boy car seat. It has made trips out much different for us, because before you would just stay in your seat. But now, you get to ride in the cart or sit in a high chair!

We also went on our second road trip as a family. We spent Memorial Day weekend on a lake in Tennessee with our group of friends. We went for a couple of boat rides while we were there. The first ride was pretty miserable for you. We made you sit in your life jacket, which must have been incredibly uncomfortable, because you sat in daddy's lap motionless, whimpering the whole time. Once we took the jacket off, you were a completely different baby, though. We learned our lesson. After you cheered up, you even drove the boat for a few minutes! Ok, Maybe not. But it was a great photo op! :D

You found your new favorite toy - the door stop in the hall way. You are so funny when you play with it, buster. You will sit and bat at it for a few minutes, then you'll turn around and do it from a different angle. My favorite, though, is when you lay down on the floor and play with it. I have no idea what is so intriguing about that thing, but you love it.

We celebrated Daddy's 30th Birthday, too! You even helped daddy unwrap his gifts. Too bad you won't be able to go the Aerosmith/ZZ Top Concert with us, though. We'll tell you all about it.

You share your daddy's love for electronics. You are so attracted to the entertainment center that I moved the coffee table in front of it to block you from playing with the TV or receiver... I haven't figured out how to keep you away from the subwoofer yet.

Four more months, little man, and you'll be a year old. It just doesn't seem possible.

Love,
Mommy

Seems to me that Eli's first year is going exseedly quick. He is growing so fast and Mom and Dad love him so much. Grandma brags about all the things he does, how smart he is. I love you Eli, David and Alison
